Beaconhouse takes top slot at contest

Karachi, Feb 12, 2008: The third All Pakistan Inter-School Declamation Contest 2008 was held Monday.

More than 40 participants from across the country took part in the full-day event, which was attended by a large turnout of students, teachers and parents.

The first prize was won by Saad Rehim Zubair from Beaconhouse Jubilee Campus. Ahmed Ali from The Lyceum School won the second prize, while Tarab Mansur of St Patrick's Girls High School won the third.

The judges included eminent members from the field of Education and Language including Oswin Mascarenhas, Adil Ahmed, Christine Martins, Afia Salam, Nazish Nomani and Rev. Sr Margaret Maddan.

St. Patrick's High School Principal Rev. Fr Joseph Paul, in his opening remarks said, "It is wonderful to see the interest being taken by schools to encourage students to take part in healthy activities. This event, in particular, has become a benchmark for boys and girls to exhibit their talents and win laurels for their respective institutions. I would like to congratulate the winners, all participants and the organizing committee to have put up another great show. Well done!"

This All Pakistan Inter-School Declamation Contest 2008 drew an increased number of students after the contest achieved the unique distinction of being the country's premier annual schools declamation contest. Invitations were also sent out to international schools from India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and U.A.E., but unfortunately due to law and order conditions in the country, they could not attend. nni
