British Council IELTS result: KU news

British Council IELTS clearification
Karachi, Feb 05, 2008: In reference to the IELTS online results published on January 24, a few corrections are in order. As published on the British Council website, the IELTS results were not delivered in 29 days as stated but within two weeks. The results for the January 19 IELTS exam were released on February 1. Till June 2008, a total number of 15 IELTS exams will be conducted in Karachi out of which 11 are for academic and general training and four are for academic purposes only. Daily Times

KU syndicate gets four new members
Karachi: The University of Karachi on Monday announced the results of the Karachi University syndicate election to the seats for professors, associate professors, assistant professors and lecturers.

According to a notification, Prof Dr Aqueel Ahmed Khan (Microbiology), Associate Prof Dr Anila Amber Malik (Psychology), Assistant Prof Dr Shakeel-ur-Rehman (Genetics) and lecturer Saba Masood (Economics) stood elected to the syndicate seats.

The new members have been elected for a three-year term which will start with the next meeting of the syndicate.

Holiday
The University of Karachi, through a notification, has announced that Feb 5 will be observed as a holiday on account of the Kashmir Day. PPI

Mass Com. students take classes at new department
Karachi: The process of shifting of the Mass Communication department (MCD), University of Karachi (KU) to the newly constructed building of Dr Feroz Ahmed Institute of Mass Communication began on Monday with the holding of MA and Honours (Final) classes at the new premises. A prayers session was held that was largely attended by the students and teachers. The complete shifting of the department is expected in two months.

Meanwhile, the Vice Chancellor, KU, Prof. Pirzada Qasim has reminded the first batch of the students of MBA (Banking and Finance) that the current era has ushered the banking system into tone of the most important sector of business and finance and corporate sectors come to the banking and finance experts for consultation. He said this while delivering a speech on the 'Orientation Day' at the department of Karachi University Business School (KUBS) that was collaborated by the Institute of Bankers Pakistan. Dr Abuzar Wajedi, Dean, Management and Administrative Sciences was also present on the occasion. The News
