Semester system for DMC approved
Karachi, Feb 15, 2008: The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has approved the semester system
for Dow Medical College (DMC), which would start from this year, said the
Vice-President, PMDC, and VC, Dow University of Health Sciences, Prof. Masood
Hameed Khan, on Thursday.
He said there was a 17-point agenda at the
110th meeting of the PMDC, held at Islamabad on Monday, at which changes in
"services rules" were approved.
He said the DUHS had already started the
semester system at two of its affiliated institutes including the School of
Nursing, because it had the "required expertise."
The Aga Khan University
has adopted the semester system because it has "full time faculty," while other
medical colleges have "part-time faculty," sources said.
These sources
said that three subjects, physics, biology, and chemistry were essential for
getting admission in medical colleges but the DMC got approval for relaxing
condition pertaining to physics for foreign students due to some undisclosed
reasons. The News
