Karachi, Feb 15, 2008: All the educational institutions in Sindh will remain closed on Monday and
Tuesday (February 18 and 19) due to the general elections as announced by the
Sindh government.
Whereas the administration of the private schools, have
circulated an internal memo declaring a week-long holiday according to which the
schools will close on February 18 and reopen on February 25 next Monday.
Friday, February 15 will be the last working day in the private schools.
With this schedule, private schools would remain closed for 10 days. The public
and private sector schools will also remain closed on February 22 on account of
Shah Latif Bhittai Urs.
The decision to close schools for one week was
taken due to security reasons, said the school administration. The continuous
hoax calls of the bomb; they said had created panic among the parents, students
and teachers.
The uncertain situation, said a school teacher, had scared
children who themselves were reluctant to attend schools in the coming week.
SSUET to remain close on 16th and 18th
Karachi: The Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET) has
announced that the university will remain closed on Saturday, February 16 and
Monday, February 18 on account of elections.
Meanwhile, the university
also announced the results of PhD Computer Engineering and Electronic
Engineering, fall semester examination, held in November 2007. Candidates have
been advised to see the notice board at the university.
Karachi University awarded M.Phil and Phd degrees
The Board of Advanced Studies and Research (BASR) has awarded 11 M.Phil and 13 PhD degrees to
the students of different departments.
Meanwhile, the university has
informed that if an LLB candidate fails due to shortage of an aggregate but
clears all subjects with the minimum required marks, he/she will be eligible for
promotion to the next higher class. But the candidate will have to appear in one
or two papers to acquire the required aggregate for passing such
examinations. The News
