IBA, IFC agree to develop curriculum
Karachi, Feb 25, 2008: The Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Karachi, and the
International Finance Corporation (IFC) have entered into an agreement to
provide state-of-the-art teaching and training facilities in corporate
governance to Pakistani students.
The IBA is the first business institute
in Pakistan which has signed the cooperation agreement with the IFC, an
international organisation, the aim of which is to promote private sector
development and to enhance institutional capacity under the Pakistan Corporate
Governance Project (PCGP).
According to the agreement, the IFC will
assist the IBA in developing a curriculum on corporate governance for its
various degree programmes such as BBA, MS, and MBA. Moreover, it will arrange
workshops and resource material to train the IBA faculty for effective execution
of these courses and assess their performance frequently to ensure world class
teaching standards.
The IBA management is also planning to offer short
courses on corporate governance for business executives. The courses will
facilitate the corporate sector to promote good governance.The News

Karachi: The Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Karachi,
will be offering introductory courses in Corporate Governance and
Entrepreneurship, announced IBA Karachi Director Danishmand. He said that the
institute will start the courses from next month at its city campus on Garden
Road. The courses are being held in collaboration with the International Finance
Corporation. app
182 receive degrees at Isra University convocation
Hyderabad: The Isra University awarded degrees to 182 graduates
at the university's 5th convocation held here on Saturday.
The
university's chancellor Prof Dr Ghulamqadir Kazi awarded bachelor's degrees in
Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) to 72 graduates, MPhil degrees in Basic Medical
Sciences to five, bachelor's and master's degrees in Business Administration,
Information Technology, Telecommunications and Computer Science to 60 and 45
graduates.
Prof Kazi congratulated the recipients of degrees and medals
and said: "Isra Islamic Foundation, which owns this university, is a non-profit
organisation that stands to serve mankind through education, healthcare and
social welfare."
Earlier, vice-chancellor Prof Dr Asadullah Kazi said
that the number of students enrolled had increased from 28 in October 1997 to
more than 1,250 by the middle of November 2007.

Zai, Sawak Memon, Sumera Kazi and Maria Sani Memon were awarded gold and silver
medals whereas Sehrish Arejo was awarded a silver medal. The News
