KU B.Com exams rescheduled: Rules for LLB students
Karachi, Feb 21, 2008: The University of Karachi (KU) has announced that the examination of Pakistan
Studies (Compulsory) for B.Com External candidates of Annual Examination-2007,
scheduled for February 22 has been moved to February 27, 2008.
Meanwhile,
Dr Darkhashan Haleem from the Department of Biochemistry has assumed the charge
as the acting Dean Faculty of Science, University of Karachi (KU) in place of Dr
Faheemuddin who retired on Wednesday.
However, Dr Shahana Urooj Kazmi,
the former chairperson, department of Microbiology and current member of Animal
Sciences at Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC), Islamabad, has been
chosen as the new dean and her file has already been sent to the Governor for
formal approval. But since she is on leave from the KU and working for PARC,
Haleem will be performing the duty of the dean till Kazmi assumes her charge.
Kazmi has a PhD degree in Immunology from the KU and an MD (Doctor of Medicine)
from the United States.
Furthermore, the United Group Employees
Association of the university has welcomed the victory of Pakistan Peoples Party
(PPP) in the recently held general elections. Amir Bux Khaskheli, Ghulam Nabi
Gabol, Asif Raja, Zahid Satti and others have expressed hope that the working in
the university will improve because there will be interaction among the
employees belonging to different political groups. Gabol, Secretary of the
association, said that they will adopt
the culture of tolerance and will not take any action against those who had
monopolised the university politics in the recent years. The News

Karachi: The examinations department of Karachi University has
announced the rules for the promotion of LLB students to the next higher
class.
This was stated by a spokesman for the university on
Wednesday.
He said that under the approved rules, if a candidate fails on
account of short aggregates but clears all the subjects with the minimum
required marks, he or she will be eligible to be promoted to the next higher
class.
However, the candidate will have to appear in one or two papers in
order to acquire the required aggregate for passing such examinations, he
added.
Meanwhile, the department of Mass Communication in the University
of Karachi is being shifted to the Dr Feroze Ahmed Institute located on the
campus.
This was stated by the chairman of the department, Prof Dr
Mahmood Ghaznavi, on Wednesday. APP
