No progress in KU bus firing case

Karachi, Feb 07, 2008: The police have so far made little progress in resolving the case of the minibus firing near the Karachi University (KU) on September 14, 2007, as only sketches of the suspected killers have been prepared.

The investigation officials of the case said that they have prepared sketches of the suspects involved in the killing of the seven people based on the description provided by the bus driver.

However, the police have not publicly circulated these sketches to date.

The investigation officials said that they were able to complete the post-mortem of all those killed in the incident.

At least four students of KU lost their lives and others were injured as unknown motorcyclists opened fire and later hurled a hand grenade on minibus number PE-1686 of the route G-7 near the staff town gate of the university around sunset.

Seven people died in the incident among which three of the deceased students belonged to the Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba (IJT). They were identified as Imran Shahid, Muhammad Siddique, Atif Butt and Kaacho Habibullah. The News
