PU degree allowance: GCU TTS appointments
Foreign degree allowance for 14 PU teachers
Lahore, Feb 27, 2008: Punjab University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran has
approved LLM/Foreign Master's degree allowance monthly to 14 faculty members of
the University Law College.
According to a press statement, a
notification D/1539-46/Est I dated 25-02-2008 has been issued in this regard.
The faculty members are assistant professors Ashfaq Ahmad Khan, Shazia
Noureen Qureshi, Muhammad Nawaz Dogar, Samee Ozair, Javaid Akhtar, Iftikhar
Ahmad Tarar, lecturers Naeem Ullah Khan, Farooq Umair Niazi, Shahbaz Ahmed
Cheema, Naveed Ahmed, Maryam Ahsan, Rabia Razzaq, Maqsood Ahmed Mann and Ahmad
Ali Ghouri. They will get additional Rs 2,500 for having masters' degree from
foreign countries.
GCU appoints 27 assistant professors
Lahore: The Government College University (GCU) has appointed 27 assistant
professors under the Tenure Track System.
According to a press release
issued on Tuesday, GCU syndicate, in its 23rd meeting, approved the appointment
of all these teachers who would be paid more than Rs 90,000 per month.
The newly-appointed assistant professors are: Dr Imtiaz Ahmed (Arabic),
Dr Hamid Mukhtar, Dr Mohsin Javed, Dr Zahid Hussain, Dr Mehmood Ali Khan
(Bio-technology), Dr Muhammad Aminullah Shah, Dr Khalid Farooq Akbar (Botany),
Dr Durre Shahwar, Dr Zahid Qureshi, Dr Irfana Mariam, Dr Muhammad Ather Abbasi,
Dr Azizur Rehman, Muhammad Jehangir, Dr Fahim A Qureshi, Dr Ahmed Adnan, Dr
Muhammad Aslam Awan (Chemistry), Dr Muhammad Maroof Gohar (Mathematics), Dr Ms
Sobia Tahir (Philosophy), Dr Muhammad Nauman Sarwar Qureshi, Dr Salamat Ali and
Dr Affia Aslam (Physics), Dr Shabbir Ahmed Rana (Psychology), Dr Amtul Bari
Tabinda, Dr Abdullah Yasir (SDSC), Dr M Haroon Qadir (Urdu) and Dr Muhammad
Ashraf Mirza, Dr Muhammad Arshad (Zoology).
Orientation programme for postgraduates starts at UVAS
Lahore: A 10-day orientation programme for over 120 postgraduate students
started at the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) on
Tuesday.
Prof Dr Mumtaz Hasan, vice-chancellor of the King Edward Medical
University was the chief guest in the inaugural session of the programme while
UVAS Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Nawaz and senior faculty members were also
present.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dr Mumtaz Hasan urged the
students to make the best use of their stay in the university by utilising the
research facilities available on the campus."Pakistanis are brilliant people
and they will excel if they are provided opportunities," he said, adding that
that the postgraduate students had to play a major role in promotion of
research. He asked them to take it the orientation programme seriously and
ensure their attendance.
Earlier, the Institute of Continuing Education
and Extension Director Dr Muhammad Amin Sheikh, in his welcome address, said the
orientation programme was aimed at training postgraduate students in research
techniques and information technology skills. The News
