Scholarship seekers should take GRE test: HEC
ISLAMABAD, 19 Feb (Daily Times): The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has asked
applicants seeking scholarships for MS and MPhils leading to PhDs to take the
GRE test by April 8, to qualify for the second batch of the
programme.
According to an HEC announcement on Saturday, the commission
will be inviting applications for the programme's second batch titled 'Overseas
Scholarships for an MS/MPhil leading to PhD in Selected Fields - Phase-2', by
the end of April 2007. The HEC has advised applicants to complete the GRE test
requirement in advance as it is essential for the overseas scholarship
programme.
Applicants who have not yet taken the GRE test or want to
improve their previous scores must appear in the GAT (general) test to be held
on April 8, 2007 by the National Testing Service (NTS) in Pakistan. A special
GRE-type test on the NTS pattern is also being arranged in Stockholm, Sweden, on
March 29, for students who are already studying abroad and want to compete for
HEC scholarships. Applications on prescribed forms should be submitted to the
HEC via email or fax by March 5. All candidates will be required to pay 25 Euros
at the time of testing in Stockholm.
