HEC to hold 4th Students' Convention
ISLAMABAD, Feb 8(APP) – The Higher
Education Commission (HEC) will hold 4th Students' Convention in
mid-April.
In this regard a preliminary meeting under the Chairmanship of
Prof. Dr.Sohail H. Naqvi, Executive Director HEC held here at HEC Headquarters
Islamabad on Wednesday.
Prof. Dr. Qasim Jaan, Vice-Chancellor Quaid-e-Azam
University Islamabad, Dr. Mahmood Butt Vice-Chancellor Allama Iqbal Open
University Islamabad, Prof. Dr. Khalid Mahmood Vice-Chancellor Arid Agriculture
University Rawalpindi, Prof. Dr. Mukhatar Ahmad Member (O&P) HEC, nominees
of Vice Chancellor Fatima Jinnah Women University and senior officers of the HEC
participated in the meeting and formulated a work plan to hold the
convention.
The Students' Convention is a regular activity of the HEC in
which the students from all the institutions of Higher Learning of the country
participate and express their views on given themes related to national
interests.
The Convention consists of three rounds beginning from the
university level going on to the regional while the last round is held at
Federal Capital at national level.
The winners from the contests of the
universities participate in the regional contests while the best speakers are
selected for final round from all the provinces, AJK and Federal Area.
It is
pertinent to mention here that President of Pakistan was a Chief Guest in the
concluding sessions of all the previous Conventions held at Jinnah Convention
Centre Islamabad.
