Class 1 to 8 Exams in February

Karachi, Jan 21, 2008: An internal circular in educational institutions have been distributed to students according to which the final exams of class one to eight will start from February 25, while the mid-term examinations of classes one to eight and classes nine and 10 Cambridge stands cancelled to generate more teaching time and the final result will be based entirely on the annual examination. The result of the exams will be declared on March 22.

According to decision taken in a steering committee meeting it was decided that the exams will be held in the month of March, as a committee has decided to start the new academic year two months before the schedule, that is, on April 1.

The exams will be taken from the reduced syllabus and rest of the course will be taught from the new academic year whereas it may also be mentioned that steering committee asked the concerned quarters to issue a circular that old books will be used in the next academic session to avoid academic loss till the Sindh Text Book Board (STTB) provides books to the market. The syllabus contents of the current session that are not covered because of the curtailment of the session will be taught in the first few weeks of the next session and to complete the course, all Saturdays up to the end of the current session will be working days.

Private schools, defying the rules, issued their own notifications which not only created uncertainty in the educational institutions but also violated the uniform policy of the education department.

According to the details, the first academic session was changed in August 1992 due to the pressure of the World Bank, but later it was reschedule for April 1. The steering committee once again revised the academic year to August in 2006. However, after realising its mistake, the committee revised it again this year. The News
