IMDC gets Bahria University affiliation
Islamabad: The Islamabad Medical and Dental College (IM&DC) has been
formally affiliated with the Bahria University after approval by board of
governors of the university. An agreement to this effect was signed at the
Bahria University on Tuesday.
Under the terms of the agreement, Bahria
University will look after the academic affairs of the Islamabad Medical and
Dental College and also be responsible for conducting annual, examinations and
award degrees to successful students on the completion of their five-year degree
programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Bahria University Rector Vice
Admiral Farooq Rashid appreciated the progress made by Islamabad Medical and
Dental College during its provisional affiliation with the university. He said
the agreement has marked exciting prospects for both the educational
institutions in developing highly skilled and quality medical practitioners.
He also offered training facilities of university to enhance teaching
skills of the faculty of Islamabad Medical and Dental College.
Earlier,
Islamabad Medical and Dental College Chairman Dr. Ghulam Akbar Khan Niazi
acknowledged the support provided by the university.
He expressed
gratitude to the rector for his support and cooperation and visionary guidance
during the process of affiliation. He also emphasised on the need for further
collaboration between the two institutions for improvement of the existing
programmes and exploring further avenues in this regard.
NCA announces theatre courses
Rawalpindi: The Theatre Department of National College of Arts, Rawalpindi
Campus, has announced its programmes for 2008, which feature diplomas,
workshops, performances and discussion forums in diverse aspects of theatre.
Its courses, ranging from a yearlong diploma in playwriting to shorter
three-week introductory courses in theatrical technical skills and summer
courses, provide opportunities to students at different levels. Admissions to
theatre courses are open till February 15.
The department has on its
faculty prominent theatre and performing arts luminaries, including Farooq
Qaiser, Mohsin Shirazi, Sarmad Sehbai, Naheed Siddiqui, Fazal Jatt, Salman
Shahid, Shah Sharabeel, Sohail Ahmed, Indu Mitha, Tariq Ameen, Rehan Sheikh and
Claire Pamment.
The National College of Arts (NCA) is home to over a
century old living art tradition and has been the sole public sector institution
in Pakistan to earn professional and international acclaim in arts.
The
college offers undergraduate (BA) and postgraduate degree courses (MA and PhD)
in visual art, architecture, textile, communication design, ceramics, product
design, interior design, conservation, cultural studies, musicology and film. The News
