Irregularities in purchase of wireless system for KU

Zaidi, has said that certain irregularities were observed in the purchase of
wireless communication system for the university some two years ago.
The
communication system at a cost of Rs610,800 was to be used by the Campus
Security Service (CSS), established overnight in April 1995 and was disbanded
after the removal of Dr Abdul Wahab as the Vice Chancellor in November 1996.
Talking at his office on Tuesday, the vice-chancellor said that some
of the equipment ordered was never received by the varsity, despite the fact
that payment was made for them. He pointed out that a detailed report on alleged
irregularities in the establishment of CSS had already been submitted to the
chancellor who was the sole authority to initiate any action against the persons
responsible for alleged misuse of funds and authority in the formation and
functioning of CSS. The News
