PU VC rejects ICS director's resignation
Lahore, Jan 28, 2008: Punjab University (PU) vice chancellor (VC) Prof Dr
Mujahid Kamran on Sunday rejected the resignation of Institute of Communication
Studies (ICS) director Prof Dr Mugheesuddin Sheikh.
The VC was addressing
the concluding session of a two-day conference on National Integrity and Media
organised by the ICS. Dr Mugheesuddin said that he would take his
'final' decision after getting a written notification from the VC.
Dr
Mugheesuddin said, "The ball is in the court of the VC and he, being a
government employee, will follow his (VC's) directions."
Earlier on
Saturday, Dr Mugheesuddin, announced to step down as the department head during
his speech on the first day of the conference, when Governor Lt General (r)
Khalid Maqbool and the VC were about to address the participants. The governor
and the VC, on the occasion, asked Dr Mugheesuddin to continue his work as
director, but Dr Mugheesuddin had said that that was his 'final' decision. Daily Times
