Federal Urdu University closed for one more week
Islamabad, Jan 16, 2007: The Federal Urdu University has been closed for one more week
due to the protest of students over non-appointment of vice chancellor of the
university.
The administration opened the university on Monday after
being closed for one month, but the students continued their protest and
announced to continue the boycott of classes till the permanent appointment of
the vice chancellor.
The students demanded of President Pervez Musharraf
to take notice of this situation and issue orders for the appointment of a new
vice chancellor immediately to save the precious academic year of the
students.
It is worth-mentioning here that the students of Federal Urdu
University started their protest on December 3, 2007 peacefully and announced to
continue their protest till the appointment of a permanent vice chancellor.
The university administration closed down the university while
announcing December vacations. The in charge VC while keeping in view the
protest of students dispatched a summary to President Musharraf in this regard
including three names for vice chancellor. The President had to approve one name
for the post of VC but despite the passage of one month, permanent appointment
of VC has not been made. The News

"I think this is the first govt.university of pakistan who lead down in many crisis from the first day,and the HEC has not the notice of these difficulties fairly especially last year.But yet the HEC has wakeup when the students of FUUAST can protest and the boycott of classes and also coming news of FUUAST in electronic and print media.I request to HEC and PRESIDENT issue orders for the appointment of a new vice chancellor immediately to save the precious academic year of the students."

"since the University was established on 13th November 2002 under Ordinance No. CXIX of 2002 promulgated by the President of Pakistan, it had been gone through many crises, one of these going on amongst the worst crises since its establishment ,VC is the backbone of any university without which university cannot be run .as this uni had offered the degree of electrical eng alongwith other degrees this is the responsibility of the university administration to accredate this institution to PEC(pakistan engeneering council).if no permenant VC how could this be possible ? i appeal to the president as wel as HEC to take notice of these situation and appoint VC as soon as possible for this will surely save the precious academic year of the students."
