2008 - year of languages: UN

ISLAMABAD, Jan 01, 2008: The year 2008 has been declared International Year of Languages by the United Nations General Assembly.

The United Nations Education Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) in a statement said languages were essential for the identification of different groups, tribes and individuals. The statement said languages were of great importance in achieving the goals of education and also for exchanging views. app
