Lahore, Jan 7: The Punjab University on Wednesday declared the results of BCom, Part-II,
Special Annual Examination, 2009, held in Toronto, Canada and Master of
Business Administration (Banking and Finance), Morning, Semester
System, Session 2007-2009, MPhil leading towards PhD in Statistics,
Semester System, Session 2004, MPhil leading towards PhD in Statistics,
Semester System, Session 2005, MPhil leading towards PhD in Statistics,
Semester System, Session 2006, MSc Computational Physics, 2-Years
(Morning), Semester System, Session 2006-2008, MSc Computational
Physics, Two-Years (Evening), Semester System, Session 2006-2008, BSc
(Hons) Microbiology and Molecular Genetics (Four-Years Programme),
Session 2005-2009 (Annual) and Master of Information Technology
(Afternoon), Semester System, Session 2004-2006 examinations. Pass

MSc Applied Geology exam
Lahore: The Punjab University has issued the schedule for submission of admission
forms for MSc Applied Geology, 1st Annual Examination, 2009. According
to a press release here on Wednesday, the last date for submission of
admission forms with single fee is 08-01-2010 while the forms can be
submitted with double fee till 11-01-2010. The exam will commence from
January 15. Detailed schedule is available at the PU website

NCA architecture department won Reubens Trophy
Lahore: The National College of Arts (NCA) has added another feather to
its cap by winning the most prestigious award at the National
Association of Students of Architecture (NASA) in Chennai, India. NCA
Department of Architecture has won the Reubens Trophy at the annual
NASA convention, which is awarded for the best standard of teaching and
quality of students in a college. NASA is one of the largest
communities of architecture students in Asia, with over 120 colleges of
architecture as members. The colleges participate in this convention
each year, which takes place in various cities of India. Around
4,000 students and faculty members from 120 architecture schools from
India and SAARC countries participated in NASA this year. The
event had ten trophies up for grabs, including the Reubens, Louis I
Khan, NASA Analysis Trophy, NASA Redesign Trophy, HUDCO and ANDC. The
most prestigious trophy is Reubens, which was awarded to 25 students of

KC students hold demo
Lahore: Students of the Kinnaird College (KC) along with their parents held a protest
demonstration in front of the Chief Minister's House on Wednesday. They
were protesting against the physical abuse of students by Dean Naima
Khurshid. The protestors were holding banners and placards
inscribed with Go-Dean-Go and other slogans against Dr Naima Khurshid.
They registered a complaint against the dean at the CM's Complaint Cell
for her alleged physical abuse of female students. They were assured of
action after thorough investigation into the matter. The students
claimed that they had pictorial proof of the hideous act of Dr Naima
physically abusing a student. The protesting students said the Kinnaird
College had always been associated with the most subtle and
sophisticated values but the dean's actions were not only effecting the
students but the image of the institution at large. Earlier the
students protested inside the college premises in front of the dean's
office and chanted slogans against her. The news

GCUF appointment hirings
Faisalabad: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has initiated a probe
into the alleged appointment of blue-eyed people by the acting
vice-chancellor of the Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF)
and a three-member inquiry committee has taken the relevant record into
its custody. Chief Minister's Inspection Team head Salahuddin
Niazi, Higher Education Secretary Ahad Khan Cheema and Faisalabad
Commissioner Tahir Husain Shah, who make the committee, on Wednesday
recorded statements of GCUF Vice-Chancellor Dr Shahid Mahboob,
Registrar Mushtaq Ahmed, Hamid Khalil, Anis Ahmed, Arshad Mehmood and
Mudassar Ahmed at Commissioner's Secretariat. The inquiry
committee took into custody the record of selection boards'
proceedings, minutes of the syndicate, personal files of the newly
appointed people and the employees who were rusticated by the
administration. The committee also seized the record of
the university canteen. The government initiated the
inquiry on the complaints of university staff Ahmed Salman Mirza and Hamid Khalil. The
latter said in his complaint that Dr Mehboob appointed 53 gazetted and
56 non-gazetted employees within six months and made money through

GCU receives Urdu classic
Lahore: The GC University, Lahore, has received the digital copies of Dastan-i-Amir
Hamzah from the Center for Research Libraries, Chicago University, USA.
According to a press release issued here Wednesday, the dastan,
comprising about 50,000 p ges, was digitized by the South Asia
Microform Project with the support of the American Institute of
Pakistan Studies (AIPS). The dastan, a masterpiece, was compiled in
1558-1573 under Mughal emperor Akbar. It was designed to augment a
storytelling performance. The digital copy, was received through the
efforts of Dr Asar Ajmal of the GCU's Urdu Department, has been placed
in the university's digital library. The news
