CDs' scandal, College principal transferred
Faisalabad: Recovery of porn material from the office of a clerk landed
the principal of the Government College for Women, Madina Town, in a tight spot
as the Punjab government has transferred her and asked her to report to the
higher education department, Dawn learnt on Friday. Sources said
principal Ms Abida Fayyaz had been transferred for she allegedly tried to save
college clerk Ashfaq Ahmed, who was found involved in keeping porn material at
his office. The college administration countered the district
administration inquiry conducted by DDO (revenue) Ms Kiran Khurshid, and gave
Ashfaq a clean chit through findings of a three-member college committee.
On Nov 3, 2009, the DDO (R) raided the Ashfaq's office and seized three
porn compact discs (CDs), 24 obscene picture pages and 50 obscene reading
materials. In her findings, Ms Khurshid mentioned that the seized
material was also shown to the principal who was called instantly from her home
situated on the college campus. The principal got checked the material
from her steno and confirmed the contents objectionable. The inquiry
officer noted that after the raid the principal called the clerical staff to
write a statement in Ashfaq's favour as had happened in previous inquiries, but
employees refused. Dawn
