Dow University labs, libraries to be upgraded
ISLAMABAD, Jan 4(Daily Times): The Central Development Working Party has approved the
Higher Education Commission's (HEC) project to upgrade and modernise existing
laboratories and libraries at the Dow University of Health Sciences,
Karachi.
The project envisages rehabilitation and refurbishment of the
infrastructure of the existing facilities, equipping them with the
state-of-the-art research equipment and the latest editions of books and
journals, which would greatly help improve the students' knowledge and skills.
It also includes human resource development through both foreign and local
training, in which five candidates would be sent abroad for their PhD's, while
13 candidates will be trained locally in FCPS, MD, MSc, MPhil, and PhD, and also
as medical technologists.
Civil works will include the renovation and
upgradation of the laboratories for anatomy, biochemistry, histology,
microbiology, pharmacology, pathology and physiology, to meet the basic
requirements of the 4,500 undergraduate and postgraduate students.
