Islamia College for Boys (ICB) a 'mobile' college?
LAHORE, 22 Jan (Daily Times): The Islamia College for Boys (ICB) has become a 'mobile' institute for
the residents of Ghaziabad and its adjoining areas as its campus keeps on
shifting from one place to another.
The college was first set up in the
Sadar area. It was then shifted to a building opposite the Government Girls High
School, Ghaziabad.
The college, which is the only institution offering
intermediate education in the area, was built on a piece of land owned by
another government department. Later, that department forced the Education
Department to vacate the building.
This time it was shifted to an
under-construction rented house beside a swamp in the union council 57. The
building lacks basic facilities.
Union council nazim Malik Waheed said
that the college was crying out for facilities. "The students are facing
problems owing to the Education Department's negligence," he said, adding that
the college's building had been turned into a garbage heap since Trade Minister
Humayun Akhtar Khan inaugurated it a few months ago.
Waheed claimed that
he had raised the issue on several platforms but to no avail.
Chaudhry
Basheer, a resident of the area, said the college had been shifting now and
again, causing problems for the students.
Aziz Bhatti Town and Data Ganj
Bakhsh Town district education officer (colleges) Riaz Hashmi said the
department planned to construct a permanent campus for the college near Muslim
Girls High School. He said details of the project would be shared with the media
in a couple of days.
