HEC to start 'Short-term Teacher Exchange Programme'
ISLAMABAD(APP): The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has invited
applications from faculty members of public and private universities for its
'Short-term Teacher Exchange Programme'. According to the HEC, teachers will
deliver lectures and supervise research and development under the programme to
particularly benefit universities that have been recently established. The
initiative is intended to expose students to the expertise of experienced
university faculty members. The exchange between universities within the
country, but not within the same city, will be for a period of one to four weeks
at a time. The host university will provide accommodation, local transport,
medical and other office facilities to teachers during the period. HEC will
offer an economy class return air ticket or first class rail ticket, Rs 2,000
per lecture as an honorarium or Rs 5,000 per week for curriculum development.
Applicants can be regular or retired faculty members of any university or degree
awarding institution, working as a professor, assistant or associate professor,
or experienced in public research and development organisations. Applications
should reach HEC at least six to eight weeks prior to the start of the visit.
