DUHS PeopleSoft CMS software | BB youth training program

DUHS gets same computer system as Stanford
Karachi, July 04, 2008: Stanford University, University of California, Berkeley, Princeton University, Cambridge University, Cornell University and Duke University use it, and now the PeopleSoft Enterprise Campus Solution has come to the Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS), Karachi as well.

DUHS Vice Chancellor Professor Masood Ahmed Khan launched the 45-million rupee Campus Management Solution (CMS) Thursday. He announced the completion of the implementation of the Oracle PeopleSoft Enterprise Campus Solution, along with the related Oracle infrastructure. The software will increase operational efficiency and will serve the students, faculty and alumni alike. "DUHS has taken this initiative to streamline its processes, deliver advanced self-servicing capabilities to the faculty and students and allow for online admissions," said Khan. DUHS is one of the first two universities selected by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) for the installation of the software, the second being the University of Engineering and Technology, Peshawar.

"We are proud of the dedication and effort put in by the entire team, with the conversion from an annual to a semester-based system being especially challenging. The changes in our academic structure, calendar and programs would not have been possible without our partner, Techlogix. With the success of this project, we have shown that universities in Pakistan can implement and benefit from world class systems," said Khan.

HEC IT Regional Director Anwer Amjad informed that the HEC had selected six public sector universities for the implementation of the Oracle PeopleSoft Campus Solution program. The universities are DUHS, University of Engineering and Technology, Peshawar, Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, Islamia University, Bahawalpur, Balochistan University of Information Technology and Management Sciences, Quetta, and the University of Punjab, Lahore.

Bids for the project were invited in December 2006 while the vendor was selected in May 2007. The project commenced in July 2007 and was completed in June 2008. Surprisingly, when asked about the exact amount spent on the project, the DUHS vice chancellor, at first, expressed ignorance. However, after consulting HEC's Anwar Amjad, he clarified that Rs 130 million had been allocated for all six universities, while the installation in DUHS cost approximately Rs 45 million. DUHS sources had claimed that the cost of installing the CMS at DUHS was Rs 130 million and that the HEC and DUHS would pay 50 percent each. Daily Times
