DUHS admission test under fire in Sindh Assembly
Karachi, July 01, 2008: The entry test for admissions in MBBS and BDS at the the Dow
University of Health Sciences (DUHS) came under fire in the Sindh Assembly on
Monday.
Members of treasury benches, particularly Pakistan People's Party
(PPP) ministers, warned that such acts would create crisis as results of
intermediate classes were yet to be announced. Sindh Minister Rafiq Engineer
raised the issue on the floor of the house and Health Minister Dr Saghir of the
Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) assured the house that he had taken notice of the
matter.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah ordered last week that
the entry test should be held in August so that every student, securing 60 per
cent of marks in the intermediate, could be able to sit in the
test.
However, the DUHS held the entry test on Sunday in Karachi. Sindh
Minister Rafiq Engineer said that notice must be taken of the act and also urged
the Sindh governor to take notice of the matter.
Sindh Woman Minister
Sassi Paloji told the house that a handicapped girl was not allowed in the entry
test despite the fact that she had the prerequisite marks. Senior Minister Pir
Mazharul Haq said that action must be taken against the act. The News

University located in Deh Railo and on the university's water supply tanks in
the area.

to Jamshoro police station for the registration of an FIR against an alleged
land grabber, Din Mohammad Chandio, and others.
