SU admission schedule for academic session 2009
Hyderabad, July 09, 2008: Sindh University has approved schedule of admissions
to bachelors and masters degree programmes for academic session 2009 here on
Tuesday.
The decision was taken at a meeting attended by the deans of
faculties and heads of sections concerned.
The meeting presided over by
vice-chancellor Mazharul Haq Siddiqui decided to issue admission forms for
admissions to all disciplines of bachelors and masters degree programmes under
merit and self-finance scheme with effect from Sep1, from the approved HBL
branches.
Last date for submission of admission forms along with all
required documents in directorate of admissions has been fixed as Oct
9.
The meeting decided that entry test for admissions to masters' degree
programmes will be conducted on Oct 19, while entry test for admissions to
bachelors degree programmes will be conducted on Nov 2.
It approved 25
per cent seats on self-finance scheme in all disciplines from academic session
2009 and decided that matter of enhancement of seats for admission on merit in
disciplines of bachelors and master degree programmes in future will be decided
later.
The meeting also constituted a committee to examine allocation of
five seats for the candidates of other provinces which will submit its
recommendations for approval of the authority.
The meeting also approved
schedule for admissions to Sindh University Laar College Badin in BBA, BS
Computer Science and Commerce and MBA and postgraduate diploma in Computer
Science disciplines.
According to decision admission forms will be issued
to candidates from Sept 1, while Oct 20 has been fixed as last date for
submission of forms.
The meeting fixed two seats for the sons and
daughters of Sindh University employees at Sindh University Laar College
Badin.
Pro-vice chancellor Dr Rafia Ahmed Shaikh, Dr G.M. Seehar, Dr
M.Qasim Bughio, Dr Sanaullah Bhutto, Dr Parveen Munshi, Mohammad Saleh Rajar and

Islamic studies popular PhDs at KU
Karachi: Three out of 11 PhDs awarded
by the University of Karachi (KU) were in Quran and Sunnah studies. KU awarded
18 degrees on Monday including seven M.Phils.
KU Registrar Prof. Muhammad
Rais Alvi announced on Tuesday that the Board of Advanced Studies and Research
(BASR), KU, in its meeting held on June 16 and July 7, 2008, under the
chairmanship of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr Pirzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui, awarded
the degrees in various disciplines.
The PhD remains dominated by Islamic
studies, and those awarded to Akhlaq Ahmed, Nighat Akram and Nasir Ali Khan were
in the Quran and Sunnah. Another popular and related PhD is in Usool-ud-Din
undertaken by Ghazala Aleem.
The two PhDs awarded in Urdu went to Shaheen
Naqvi and Sadaf Fatima. Rizwana Chang, meanwhile, received a PhD in Mass
Communications, Shakil Ahmed Don in Chemistry, Sumera Ishrat in Social Work,
Kausar Parveen in Sociology and Faraha Lalani in Public Administration. On
the other hand, the trend in M.Phil degrees was more consistent, leaning towards
modern scienc es. Baradi Waryani received a degree in Marine Biology, Syeda Saba
Aleem in Pharmaceutics, Imteaz Hussain in Mathematics, Sajjad Haider in
Pharmaceutics, Ambreen Niazi in Physiology, Muhammad Suhail Tariq in Geology and
Zebun Nisa in Pharmaceutics. Daily Times
