UHS acquires land to establish new campus
Lahore, July 11, 2008: The University of Health
Sciences (UHS) on Thursday acquired more than 50 acres of land at Kala Shah Kaku
for the establishment of its new campus.

Hussain Mubabbashar, Registrar Prof Dr Zafar Iqbal, Examinations Controller Dr
Junaid Khan, Administration Director and Co-ordination Col (r) Jawaid Iqbal,
other UHS staff members and Punjab Revenue Board officials were also present on
the occasion. An Advanced Clinical Research Centre (research hospital) and
Centres of Excellence in basic Medical Sciences will be made on the campus.
Research will be conducted on subjects like Genetics, Biotechnology, Genomics
and Biomedical Engineering in the departments formed on the new campus of
alternative medicine, public health and family medicine. A national reference
library will also be set up and residential facility will be provided for the
staff and students. The construction work will begin next month.
The UHS
vice-chancellor told the faculty members that the establishment of the new
campus was a milestone in the history of the university. He said that the UHS
had faced a lot of difficulties in the beginning, but they had now made a lot of
progress and expected that the new campus of the university would provide a lot

IJT stages protest demonstration against PSF
Peshawar: Islami Jamiat Tabla (IJT) Peshawar Chapter Thursday staged a
protest demonstration, in front of Peshawar Press Club, reportedly People's
Students Federation (PSF) attacked welcome camps installed at Bahauddin Zakeria
university at Multan. The IJT Nazim Hafiz Hameedullah, Peshawar Colleges acting
nazim and other activits of IJT, led the rally. They were carrying placards and
banners bearing voices against the People's Student Federation workers and
demanding of the government to immediately arrest the activists involved in the
incident.
While condemning the incident the IJT Nazim Hafiz Hameedullah has said
that the federal government has played the role of silent spectator before the
history shatters who were attacking on the innocent students. He alleged that
the People's Students Federation is deteriorating congenial and conducive
academic environment, where they want to impose their own supremacy. Nazim
Hameed further said that the IJT has continuing its tradition to set up welcome
camp for the new comers, and adding that the it will arrange such kind of
positive activities at the university campus. He said that such sort of incident
should be stop, if not it would be serious cause and all university
administration would responsible any untoward incident. Hameed strongly
condemned the attacked by the workers of Peoples Student Federation and
demanding of the government to immediately arrest who were involved in the
