BCom results announced
Karachi, July 27: Girls bagged all the top three positions in the BCom
part-II and both parts (external) annual examinations-2008 whose
results were announced by the examinations department, University of
Karachi, on Saturday. Fatima Khalid Baloch secured the first position with 779 out of the
total 1,100 marks while Madiha Nazeer with 777 marks and Falak Jawed
with 769 marks bagged the second and third positions, respectively. According to statistics, a total of 9,588 candidates appeared in the examinations. The pass percentage stood at 28.69. Dawn

SBTE announces TSC exam results
Karachi: Controller of Examinations, Sindh Board of Technical Education (SBTE), Prof. Sirajul
Islam, has announced the result of Technical School Certificate (TSC)
Part-II Annual Exams 2009. According to statistics of the results,
1,683 candidates appeared from all over Sindh and, of them, 1,136 were
declared to have passed - a pass percentage of 67.50 per cent. Jahanzeb
Ali Khan (Roll No 5648) of Govt Boys Secondary School, Orangi No 10,
who obtained 987 marks, A-One Grade, stood first. Shumaila Kiran of
Muhammad Shafi Technical High School Shershah, Roll No 6103, who
obtained 959 marks, A-One Grade, stood second and Syeda Saima of
Gulshan Technical High School (Roll No 5946) with 957 marks, A-One
Grade, stood third. The News

BIEK colleges affiliation
Karachi: Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) has decided to accord
provisional affiliation to 11 new colleges in the city. This
was announced by BIEK Chairman Prof Anwar Ahmed Zai in a statement. It
was pointed out that the decision had been taken on the orders of
Director-General of Colleges, Sindh, Dr Rafiq Siddiqui. The other
existing colleges where new departments have been established will also
be given provisional affiliation.

Sindh University exams put off
Hyderabad: The controller of examinations of the University of
Sindh announced on Friday that papers of the first semester
examinations, special semester examinations and BEd and MEd
(off-campus) programme scheduled for Saturday had been postponed.
He said that the date for holding the papers would be announced later.
The rest of papers would be held as per schedule, he added.

SU teacher honoured
Hyderabad: The Higher Education Commission has selected Prof
Dr Abida Tehrani, director of the Sindh Development Study Centre of the
University of Sindh for the best University Teacher Award for 2008.
The HEC said in a letter the award would be conferred in a
commemorative award ceremony scheduled to be held in the first week of
August this year at HEC auditorium in Islamabad. Dawn
