Lahore, July 17: In recently declared BSc results of Punjab
University, a student of Punjab College, Amna Riaz, Roll Number 035376,
secured overall top position with 69% marks. Musavarah Sarwar of Punjab
College, Roll No. 135371, clinched third position with 656 marks.

Punjab University PhD theses
Lahore: A meeting of Punjab University Advance Studies and Research Board (AS&RB) on Thursday
approved 10 PhD synopses, eight reports on PhD theses and three panels
of examiners for PhD theses review. A press said the meeting chaired by
Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran solved the cases of PhD scholars
sent for review to the board by PU departments, institutes, colleges
and schools. Extension was given to 37 cases while four miscellaneous
cases were also discussed.

PhDs awarded at PU
Lahore: The Punjab University awarded PhD degrees to two students in Arabic and Botany on Thursday. A
press release said Tasleem Tayyeba daughter of Sher Muhammad has been
awarded PhD degree in Arabic after approval of her research thesis
titled "Al-Madeeh Al-Nabawiy (SAW) Shawqiy Wa Iqbal". She completed her
thesis under the supervision of Sargodha University Vice Chancellor
Prof Dr Muhammad Akram Chaudhry. Riffat Jabeen daughter of Syed Sajid
Hussain Zaidi has been awarded PhD degree in Botany after approval of
her research thesis entitled "Palynological Biostratigraphy of Ghazij
Formation North East Balochistan, Pakistan". She completed her thesis
under the supervision of PU Department of Botany Chairman Prof Dr Khan
Rass Masood. The News

PEPCO committee to investigate PU power failure
Lahore: The Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO) managing director
(MD) has taken notice of the power failure at Punjab University (PU)
Faisal Auditorium New Campus during the prize distribution ceremony
attended by the Punjab chief minister as chief guest on Wednesday.
PEPCO MD Tahir Bisharat Cheema ordered an immediate inquiry and
constituted a three-member committee to investigate the power failure.
The committee will report its findings in three days. Officials held
responsible will be dealt with in light of the committee's report. Daily Times
