Girls continue their reign in board exams
Karachi, July 20: The Controller of Examinations,
Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK), Kalim Asghar Kirmani announced the
result of Secondary School Certificate (SSC) Part-II (Class X), Science Group,
annual examination 2010 here on Monday. The female candidates clinched
all top three positions while first and third position was bagged by PECHS,
Girls School. According to the official database released by BSEK, 121,559
candidates registered and 120,953 students appeared in the examinations.
Furthermore, the gazette shows that 10,524 students obtained A-1 grade,
21,862 candidates secured A grade while 25,965 students received B grade in the
exams. Moreover, 18,178 candidates passed with C grade and 5,120 and 95 students
have managed D and E grade respectively. The pass percentage of the exams was
67.78 per cent. Kirmani told local media that 237 candidates were also
declare pass in additional subjects. The statistics shows that at least 68, 359
male candidates registered while 68, 005 appeared in the exams. It further shows
that 3, 951 candidates bagged A-1 grade and 10, 599 students had A grade. As
many as 14, 563 candidates obtain B grade while 11, 937 students received C
grade. As per gazette, 4, 105 and 82 candidates had D and E grade respectively
whereas 166 students pass their exams without any grade. On the other
hand, 53, 200 female candidates registered for the examinations and 52, 948
appeared in the papers. Meanwhile, 6, 573 female students' bagged A-1 grade and
11, 263 students obtained A grade. The result also shows that 11, 402 candidates
had B grade while 6, 241 students received C grade whereas 1, 015 and 13 female
candidates were declare passed in D and E grade respectively. Moreover, 71
students pass their exams without any grade. Javeria Nizamuddin,
daughter of Nizamuddin Kukda, a student of PECHS, Girls School, clinched first
position with 795 marks out of total 850 marks. According to her, she did
not take any tuition for the preparation of the exams. Javeria said that she is
interested in medical field. "I think terrorism is the biggest threat faced by
the nation right now," she added. Farhat ul Ain, daughter of Naeem
Akhtar, and student of Naveed Girls Secondary School, Sindhi Hotel, Liaquatabad,
bagged second position and secured 791 marks. She said that class
differences do not matter but the standard of education does. It was a
misconception that only well-known schools have the ability to get positions in
the exams. Farhat expressed her interest in Biotechnology Engineering.
Hafsa Sohail, daughter of Sohail Alam Altaf, another student of PECHS,
Girls School, was third with a difference of one mark only. She got 790
marks. Hafsa has said that she still feels proud despite that she was
third due to the difference of one number only. "It is an honour for me and
family and I have no regrets on the result," she added. The Chairman,
BSEK, Anzar Hussain Zaidi said that the result shows that only those examination
centres where no incident of unfair means cases (UMC) occured managed to clinch
positions. It would boost the moral of the students and encourage them to study
hard and avoid using unfair means during the exams, he added. The mark
sheet would be sent to schools within 15 days. The marks statements of the
regular and former candidates will be issued to the authorised representatives
of the schools/institutions from the Board, Kirmani said.

BSEK announces results for deaf candidates
Karachi: The Controller of Examinations, Board of Secondary Education
Karachi (BSEK) has announced the result of Secondary School Certificate (SSC)
Part I and II, annual examination 2010 for deaf candidates on Monday. The
gazette shows that all top three positions were clinched by the male students of
Dewa Academy for the Deaf, Gulshan-e-Iqbal. According to the result, 84
candidates registered for the examinations while 82 appeared in the papers. As
many as 81 candidates managed first division whereas one student was declared
pass with second division. The pass percentage of the annual examinations was
100 per cent. Meanwhile, 112 candidates registered for the Part-I, annual
exams among those107 appeared in the papers. As per statistics provided by BSEK,
105 students clear all five papers while two children cleared four
papers. Adil Usman, son of Muhammad Usman, a student of Dewa Academy for
the Deaf, Gukshan-e-Iqbal, bagged first position with 87.64 per cent. He
obtained 745 marks out of 850 marks. Another student of Dewa Academy,
Waqar Uddin son of Shamsuddin, roll number 1019, secured 738 marks and 86.82 per
cent. Hammad Sajjad son of Sajjad Zaheer Tanoli, roll number 1008, obtain 736
marks and 86.58 per cent, he was also a student of Dewa Academy. These
position holders with the helps of their parents and school's principals
