Punjab delays 4-year BA degree plan
LAHORE, July 27: A controversy over the mode of examination, ill-equipped libraries, lack
of teacher training and poor conditions of laboratories is seriously hampering
the Punjab government plan to introduce a four-year bachelor's degree programme
in selected colleges of the province.
The programme, to be introduced in
26 colleges of the Punjab in 2008, has been delayed by a year in order to meet
the necessary requirements.
A meeting to review the
introduction of the programme was held at the Punjab Education Department a
couple of days ago, where the participants expressed their sorrow over its
delay.The meeting, attended by representatives of the Education Department, the
Higher Education Commission (HEC) and various universities, observed most
selected colleges lacked the required infrastructure.
