Funds issued for smooth running of projects: HEC
ISLAMABAD, July 2(Daily Times): Higher Education Commission (HEC) on Saturday said it
released development grants to universities for approved projects according to
the 'cash plan' so that the process remained unhindered.
The HEC
spokesperson issued a press statement saying the projects could have been
delayed had the HEC not issued annual grants on time. "Physical review of the
projects is carried out every three months and its reports are sent to the Prime
Minister's Secretariat, Finance Division, Planning Commission and chancellors of
the universities," it said. The statement said the Auditor General of Pakistan
(AGP) audited the accounts in addition to the chartered accounts hired by the
HEC. It says the objections raised in the AGP report regarding HEC accounts had
been cleared.
