HEC team visits Mauritius
ISLAMABAD, July 4(The Nation) - A four-member delegation
comprising rectors and directors of reputed Pakistani universities paid a visit
to Mauritius on June 24-29.
The objective of this first-ever visit by HEC
delegates was to establish linkages between the centres of higher learning of
both the friendly countries.
According to a message received here on Tuesday,
the idea of establishing centres of excellence in Mauritius was approved in the
expert level negotiations that took place under the framework of the Joint
Working Group (JWG) on Trade and Investment.
The HEC delegates held
discussions with the Mauritian stakeholders to explore ways and means to
identify areas of possible collaboration to help develop Mauritius as a
knowledge hub in the region.
The delegates availed this opportunity to
sensitize students on the greater-than-ever opportunities of higher studies in
the Pakistani universities.
The members of the delegation also held
interactive sessions and distributed publicity material amongst the potential
candidates to facilitate them in choosing their destination of tertiary
education.
