GCU hits back at PU's remarks
LAHORE, July 17: The Government College University has taken a strong
exception to the Punjab University's claim that the latter is following in the
footsteps of the former in dealing with plagiarists.
Reacting to the PU
registrar's statement that it had taken action against five plagiarists of the
Center for Higher Energy Physics (CHEP) on the pattern of the GCU, a GCU
spokesman said that economics department head Prof Qais Aslam had been removed
from the chairmanship and the Tenure Track System after an inquiry committee
confirmed plagiarism charges against him.
He said Prof Aslam had resigned
due to his mistake and for the sake of dignity of the university and the
syndicate accepted it. Dawn
