Textbooks face threat from rain
TOBA TEK SINGH, July 17: About 100,000 textbooks sent by the provincial
government for distribution among students of government schools free of cost
under the Chief Minister's "Parha Likha Punjab Programme" are feared to be
destroyed due to the rainy season.
Reports said that on the request of
local education department officials, high-ups sent some money to purchase
polythene sheets to save the stock.
A source discloses that about 300,000
textbooks are required for students of different classes during the current
year's academic session, but the government has so far supplied only 100,000
books. Dawn
