'Education and vocational training need of the hour'

MUZAFFARABAD, July 6(Daily Times): Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Chief Secretary (r) Javed Majeed said that professional education and vocational training are the hour's need while addressing the concluding session of a workshop organised by UN Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) Chief Technical Advisor Aishya Khan here on Thursday in a local hotel.

Majeed said the prevailing situation needed the promotion of professional education and vocational training at every level in order to provide employment opportunities to AJK's youths at large scale, necessary for the enhancement of the annual income of a common man. He said that marketing opportunities must be provided with a wide range to professionals, adding that under the UN Industrial Development Programme, a professional and vocational education programme had been launched in AJK. Speaking on the occasion, Aishya Khan said UNIDO's objective was to provide professional training to quake victims besides financial support. She said that measures were also being taken for the promotion of marketing with the collaboration of NGOs and the AJK government. Khan said this would help facilitate women and enable them to earn their livelihood with honor and dignity.
