KU dispatches MA examination admit cards
Karachi, June 04, 2008: The University of Karachi (KU) controller of examination
has notified candidates appearing in MA (External) annual examination scheduled
to begin from June 9, 2008, that their admit card and information about their
program of examination are being dispatched to the postal address provided by
them.
According to a KU notification issued on Tuesday, those candidates
who did not receive their admit cards by June 4, 2008 are directed to contact
the External Unit, Examinations Department, at Silver Jubilee Gate, Room No. 1,
from June 5 to 8, 2008 (including Sunday) between 10:00 a.m. to 01:00 p.m. for
the issuance of a duplicate admit card. ppi

KU syndicate okays promotion reports
Karachi: The syndicate of Karachi University in its meeting
approved the report of the promotion committee with regard to upgrading
employees (BPS 1-16) on the basis of possessing or acquiring higher academic
qualification.
A university spokesman on Tuesday said it was decided that
the matriculate employees would be awarded grade 5, those with intermediate
qualification grade 7, graduate staffers would be promoted to grade 11, and
professional bachelors or masters degree holders would be placed in grade 13,
professional masters or BS degree holders would be awarded grade 15.
The
policy, the spokesman said, would benefit several employees of Karachi
University in terms of grades and monetary incentives.
Convener of the
promotion committee Professor Abuzar Wajidi, who is also the dean of the
management and administrative sciences faculty, said that the syndicate passed
such a policy for the first time mainly because of keen interest shown by KU
vice-chancellor Dr Pirzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui in this regard.
Earlier, a
report submitted by the committee for the promotion of employees on the basis of
service experience was also approved.
Employees in grades between 1 and
16 were considered for promotion and certain incentives on the basis of their
service experience. App

Sindh university resumes exams under tight security
Hyderabad: First semester examinations in all teaching institutes
and departments began at the University of Sindh on Tuesday in morning and
evening shifts in a peaceful manner under strict security.
Due to a
threat from a students' group, a full security cover was provided to university
buses plying from Hyderabad to Jamshoro by Hyderabad city police.
Strict
security was observed at the university examination centres and main entrances
of the campus.
The vice chancellor of the university, Mazharul Haq
Siddiqui on Tuesday paid visits to several examination centres on the campus to
inspect arrangements. Registrar of the university Mohammad Saleh Rajar,
Controller of Examinations Dr Pervez Pathan accompanied the vice
chancellor.
The vice chancellor in the light of complaints received from
some students, also visited seminar library of IBA to inspect the facilities
there. He directed the IBA management to take steps for providing electricity
and other facilities for students.
Meanwhile, a meeting was convened by
the DIG of Hyderabad at DPO office Jamshoro late on Monday to review the
security arrangements for the examinations.
The meeting was attended by
the registrar of university, the DPO of Jamshoro, the SP Hyderabad city and
other officials.
In the light of decisions at the meeting, police squad
was provided to student buses. Two policemen accompanied every university
