Punjab University College of Art and Design (PUCAD) theses
PUCAD students display theses
Lahore, June 21, 2008: About 31 master's students of
the Punjab University College of Art and Design (PUCAD) displayed their theses
at the department, said a PU press release on Friday.
The students
(graphic design) highlighted various social issues in their work. PU
Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran opened the exhibition. Gujrat University
VC Dr Niazamuddin, PUCAD Principal Zafarullah, Khalid Saeed Butt, Dr Shahida
Manzoor, Dr Shaukat and Additional Registrar Aurangzeb Alamgir were also
present.
The VC said, "Art and culture are our heritage and only
universities can preserve it. PUCAD is doing a great job in this regard." He
said the college had provided a great platform to the students to improve their
creativity.
PU Deans Committee meeting held: The Punjab University Deans
Committee on Friday discussed the formation of a special security force to
support the hostel administration during its operation against 'outsiders'
living in the hostels. The VC presided over the meeting.
The meeting
denounced people who had attacked hostel-8 warden and superintendent with
stones. The meeting also decided to take action against those who harassed the
hostel administration officials during the operation against 'outsiders'. Daily Times

PU awards three PhD degrees
Lahore: The Punjab University has awarded PhD degrees to three students in
different subjects after the completion of their theses.
Student Bushra
Jamal Khurshid d/o Jamal Khurshid has been awarded a PhD degree in the subject
of Mass Communication after the completion of her thesis entitled "Images of
Muslim Women in International Magazines: The Case of "Time & Newsweek". She
completed her thesis under the supervision of Prof Dr Mughees Uddin Sheikh.
Azmat Jadoon d/o Kushhal Khan Jadoon has been awarded a PhD degree in
the subject of Zoology after the completion of her thesis entitled
"Seroprevalence and polymorphism of Toxoplasma Gondii in Local Isolates".
She completed her thesis under the supervision of Punjab University
Department of Zoology Prof Dr Tanveer Akhtar While UVAS Lahore Department of
Parasitology Chairman Prof Dr Azhar Maqbool was the Co-Supervisor. Saira Riaz
d/o Riaz-ul-Haq has been awarded a PhD degree in the subject of Solid State
Physics after the completion of her thesis entitled "Preparation and
Characterization of Advanced Materials for Electronic and Opto-Electronic
Devices." She completed her thesis under the supervision of University of the
Punjab Centre of Excellence in Solid State Physics Prof Dr Shehzad Naseem. The News
