UET convocation postponed due to unavoidable reasons
Lahore, June 13: The 19th convocation of the University of Engineering &
Technology (UET) Lahore has been postponed once again. Earlier, the UET
administration had announced that the convocation would be held on May 23, 2009.
However, it was postponed due to unavoidable reasons. Later, the varsity
administration announced to hold the event on June 13. However, a statement
issued on Friday stated that the 19th convocation of the UET scheduled to be
held on 13th has been postponed due to unavoidable reasons. A number of UET
students criticized the varsity administration for being unable to organize the
important event saying students and their parents wait a lot for the day when
degrees are conferred on the students. When contacted, UET deputy
registrar (PR) Muhammad Irfan said the convocation was postponed as the
Chancellor/ Governor was not available.

PU announced various exams' results
Lahore: The Punjab University Examination Department declared the results
of various examinations on Friday. These exams include MPhil Physics,

MA Education (Elementary), Semester System, Session 2005-2007, MA Education

Session 2005-2006, MSc Geographical Information System (Spring 2005), Semester
System, Session 2005-2007, Master of Information & Operational Management,
Semester System, Session 2003-2005, Master of Information & Operational

525 PU employees get papers
Lahore: A Ceremony in connection with distribution of certificates to
regularise 525 employees of BPS-1 to BPS-7 of the Punjab University was held at
New Campus on Friday. Addressing the ceremony, PU Vice-Chancellor Prof
Dr Mujahid Kamran said self-accountability, hard work and honesty were very
essential to put the system of the institutions as well as the country on the
right track. "A society, which follows rules and where justice is
provided to individuals, always prosper," he said. The VC congratulated
the employees and directed them to facilitate students and teachers. PU
Registrar Prof Dr Muhammad Naeem Khan said the employees were playing a major
role in the administrative and examinations' affairs. "The employees
facilitate over 30,000 students in 300 examinations, which should be
appreciated," he said, adding that if 8,000 employees of the university did work
with more commitment, the PU could win good ranking among the international
universities. Additional Registrar Prof Dr Aurangzeb Alamgir, Controller
Examinations Prof Zahid Karim Khan, other officials and a large number of
employees were present. The employees who were regularised included
junior clerks, naib qasids, gardeners, sanitary workers, sweepers, guards,
junior KPOs, linemen, watchmen and attendants. The News
