Admit cards for MA exams on 29th
Karachi, June 25: Controller of Examinations, University of Karachi, on Thursday
announced that if the candidates of MA (External) annual examinations 2009 did
not receive their admit cards by 28, they should collect their cards from the
university on 29 and 30. The students were advised to collect the admit
cards from Room No1 Silver Jubilee Gate between 09am and 1pm. The MA exam would
commence from July 01. The candidates are required to bring the original
receipt of the examination form, two passport size photographs, original
registration card and computerized national identity card, he added.

College professors still waiting for promotion notification
Karachi: Inordinate delay in issuing notification regarding promotion from grade 19 to
grade 20 has caused serious desperation among deserving educationist, among whom
two female teachers passed away while 15 others already retired. This
was said by President of the Government College Principals
Association, Professor Saeed Uz Zafar on Thursday. "The PS Board No1
approved these promotions on March 10, 2010. However, no notification has been
released to date in this regard. Professor Shehnaz Iftikhar of Sir Syed College
for Women, Karachi and Professor Noreen Leghari of Zubaida Girls College,
Hyderabad passed away without getting their promotion notifications," he
added. Professor Saeed Uz Zafar Khan has strongly demanded the concerned
authorities to issue the said notification immediately so that they may be able
to avail the benefits of their long awaited promotions. In case if this
genuine demand is not fulfilled, the teachers' community will be compelled to
launch a staunch protest and they will be fully justified in doing so, Professor
Khan warned.

35th principals' conference of Fazaia Colleges held
Murree: The 35th Principals' Conference of Fazaia Schools and Colleges was held
at PAF Lower Topa Murree on Thursday. The three-day conference was attended by
the principals of 23 Fazaia schools and colleges spread all over the
country. Air Vice Marshal Athar Hussain Bukhari, Deputy Chief of the Air
Staff (Training), presided over the final session and finalised the policy
decisions on the recommendations of the participants. Addressing on the
occasion, he expressed his satisfaction over the quality of education being
imparted at Fazaia institutions and said that the institutions have achieved the
status of elevated and prestigious institutions in the country. He also lauded
the meritorious services of Air Commodore Waseem Mehdi, as ACAS (Education) and
appreciated his professionalism, commitment and selfless devotion to the
service. In the preliminary interactive session, held on June 22, the
participating principals shared their experiences and finalised the agenda
points. The succeeding two sessions were held on June 23 to June 24
respectively. Various aspects of imparting quality education were deliberated
upon. Presentations on the role of progress section in an educational
institution, management & governance issues, instructional strategies and
professional training were made by the participants. Group Captain Khaliq uz
Zaman, Director Schools & Colleges, presented an overview of performance of
all the Fazaia institutions.

UoM unveils budget
Peshawar: Rs445.121 million budget of the University of Malakand (UoM) with a
deficit of Rs122.5 million was presented at the 9th meeting of the Finance and
Planning Committee of the university at its premises in Chakdarra in Dir Lower
Thursday. The meeting demanded financial assistance from the Higher
Education Commission and provincial and federal governments for the university
to overcome the fiscal crisis. It was decided that 12 new departments such as
Pashto, Islamic Studies, Physics, Law, Education, Geology, Domestic Science,
Energy, Tourism and Hotel Management, Food Sciences and Food Processing
Technology, Material Science and Nano Technology would be launched at the
university the next year. The meeting was presided over by the
Vice-Chancellor Dr Rasool Jan and attended by HEC Regional Director Farmanullah
Anjum, HEC representatives Tayeb Awan, Secretary Finance department Ghulam
Mohammad, Government Degree College Thana Malakand Agency Principal Ziaullah,
Director Finance Israrullah, Controller of examinations Shahid Khan and
Registrar Mahboob-ur-Rahman. The issue of pay-scale structure for contract
