Pre-arrest bail for Sindh education secretary
KARACHI, June 19(Daily Times): Sindh Secretary Education,
Sabhago Khan Jatoi, was admitted pre-arrest anticipatory bail till June 27
against a solvent surety of Rs 0.5 million by a division bench of the Sindh High
Court (SHC) comprising Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali and Justice Qaiser Iqbal
Monday.
Appearing before the court in the morning, Jatoi, a BS-20
officer, sought bail before arrest apprehending that he would be arrested for
alleged corruption and corrupt practices. The applicant maintained that he has
been officially informed that NAB sleuths were investigating him. I was asked by
the NAB authorities to fill in certain forms/ proformas containing details about
my assets, bank accounts and other information, he submitted.
The
applicant stated that after this, he was offered a plea bargain, which he
rejected on the basis that the charges against him, including living beyond his
known means, and accumulation of wealth were un-founded. The bench, after
hearing the counsel for the applicant admitted him the bail.
