737 schools closed in Nawabshah
NAWABSHAH, June 1(The News): Members of the district council on Thursday expressed concerns over
the closure of a large number of government schools in the district. Member Jam
Feroze Unar informed the council that 737 schools were lying closed in the
district, but the education department was not taking any action to reopen them.
He held teachers, education department officials, and local political leaders
responsible for the situation.
Member Abdul Rasool Brohi said more than 130,000
children, most of them belonging to lower class families, had been deprived of
education in the district. EDO Syed Ali Akbar Shah admitted that 737 schools
were non-functional in the district and the education department was trying to
reopen them.
