Former VC Preston University passes away
June 19(The News): A renowned scholar and dedicated teacher, Dr. Syed Riaz Ahmad, the former vice
chancellor of the Preston University passed away here.
Dr. Syed Riaz
Ahmad has served as member, Directing Staff at the Pakistan Administrative
Staff, Lahore, for many years. He has served in the Pakistan Banking Council,
the Askari Bank and many other institutions. He has supervised a number of
dissertations and theses and is the author of several books on politics in
Pakistan.
Besides being a renowned political scientist and a dedicated
teacher, Dr. Syed Riaz Ahmad was also a man of literature and has several books
to his credit on Urdu poetry. His masterly translation of the Urdu poetry of
Noon Meem Rashid, the famous Urdu poet, into English will be well remembered by
literary circles. May Allah bless his soul in the hereafter.

deep sorrow on the sad demise of Dr. Syed Riaz Ahmad and expressed his
condolences to the bereaved family.
