CM Punjab, teahcers to discuss relief package
LAHORE, June 6(Daily Times): Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi on Tuesday directed the chief
secretary to meet teachers' representative at his office on June 16, at 11am to
evolve a teachers' relief package. Elahi was talking to a teachers' delegation
led by Joint Action Committee of Teachers Chairman Rana Muhammad Arshad at CM's
Secretariat. He said that the government was determined to giving the teachers
maximum relief so that they could perform their responsibilities with regard to
promotion of education in an efficient manner.
He assured that the teachers'
demands would be considered sympathetically. Elahi said that teachers were the
most important part of the country's educational system and the government was
paying special attention to their welfare and ensuring their respect and dignity
in the society. He said that the education sector had been strengthened for the
promotion of quality education in the province. He said that teachers played a
pivotal role in students' character building and grooming and the government was
paying special attention to their welfare and uplift. Arshad thanked the CM to
assure sympathetic consideration to their demands. He said that teachers would
continue to play an active role to improve the government's educational
programme.
