Urdu translation of 11 Turkish books launched
ISLAMABAD, June 27(Daily Times): Col Masood Akhtar Sheikh launched Urdu translations of
eleven Turkish books in a book form at the Pakistan Academy of Letters here on
Tuesday.
Many noted literary personalities of the country were present on
the occasion to share their views about the quality of translation with the
audience. Col Masood has authored many books including the translation of the
works of Turkish writers and poets and some 500 articles in newspapers.
"Translating works done in one language into another is not an easy job.
It must be close to the original text of the piece of writing and writer's
message contained therein," he said.
He said Pakistanis had a special
bond with Turks due to similar religious and cultural heritage. He said he had
chosen Turkish books for translation into Urdu, thinking such an attempt could
bring the two countries closer.
