Govt mulls 2% grace marks for students
KARACHI, June 30(Daily Times): All
the heads of educational boards are scheduled to meet Saturday (today) to
discuss and decide issues including compensation for students who appeared in
the recently held secondary and intermediate examinations but had a hard time
preparing because of the continued power failures, sources informed Friday.
It has been reported that Governor Ishratul Ibad announced during
his last press conference that the government would consider compensating the
affected students. The governor had not mentioned how the students would be
compensated, but according to a report published in a local newspaper, the
government has decided to give two percent grace marks to the affected students.
According to the chairman of the Board of Intermediate Education,
Karachi (BIEK) Anwar Ahmedzai, the government wants to help the affected
students and the grace marks was among few of the suggestions under
consideration. He said that all the suggestions would be considered
during a meeting scheduled in Larkana of all the heads of all the boards.
According to sources in Governor House, any compensation expected would
be given all over the province. Sources added that the two percent grace marks
would be given on each subject.
