Education does not count much for Police
ISLAMABAD, June 20(Dawn): Pakistan is governed by a graduate National Assembly
but its capital lacks graduate police officers. Only five of the 12 station
house officers (SHOs) in Islamabad are graduates.
An
official source said two others are under-graduate, three matriculate and two
even did not finish their high school.
The source identified the graduate
officers, Mohammad Ashraf, SHO Kohsar; Rukhsar Mehdi, SHO Secretariat; Munawar
Ali, SHO Industrial Area; Khurshid Khan, SHO Sabzi Mandi; and Tahir Iqbal, SHO
Golra police station.
While, Naeem Iqbal, SHO Margalla and Arshad Ali,
SHO Shahzad Town left college before graduation.
Mohammad Akram, SHO
Tarnol is under-matriculate, Raja Asghar Satti, SHO Sihala and Abdul Rashid
Niazi, SHO Aabpara are matriculate, and Sub-Inspector Abdul Majeed, SHO Bhara
Kahu is under-matric, while Ghulam Baqir SHO Shalimar left school before 10th
class.
Meanwhile, several graduates and post-graduate police officers are
spending days of frustration in the police lines waiting to get a lucky
break.
