HEC Ph.D fellowships: Japanese scholarship
HEC invites applications for Ph.D fellowships
Islamabad, Mar 08, 2008: Higher Education Commission (HEC) on Friday invited applications from
Pakistani and AJK nationals for Ph.D fellowships under a scholarship
programme.
Students who
adopted Quality Assurance Criteria for M.Phil and Ph.D level studies in any
degree awarding institution will be eligible to apply for the
scholarship.
The last date for
submission of application is March 31. The applicants should have a degree with
minimum 16 years of education with no 3rd Division or Grade D in
his/her academic career.
Those who have
already got scholarship cannot apply for this programme. Maximum age limit is 35
years on closing date of submission of the application. For people working on
regular basis in public sector organizations maximum age is 40 years.
The applicants must
qualify the local GRE (general) -type test with atleast 50 Marks (or above) out
of 100. App
Eleven students get Japanese scholarship
Islamabad: The government of Japan awarded scholarships for the year 2008
to 11 postgraduate students of Pakistan, says a press release issued here on
Friday.
The scholarships have been provided with an aim at helping them
pursue higher studies in their respective fields of study in Japanese
universities, fully funded by the government of Japan.
The Japanese
scholarships programme is designed to contribute to the long-term development
needs of Pakistan for promoting good governance, economic growth and human
development.
These scholarship awarded students have been selected by the
Embassy of Japan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan and the Ministry of
Education, Science and Culture of Japan (MEXT) in collaboration with the MEXT
Alumni Association of Pakistan (MAAP).
The Ambassador of Japan to
Pakistan Seiji Kojima hosted a reception at his official residence in honour of
the students.
The alumni of this scholarship programme were also invited
to this reception to exchange views and share knowledge with the fresh
scholarship students.
In the opening speech, the ambassador asked the
students to get ready for the change and differences they will encounter in
Japan.
He also expressed the hope that the students would come back to
Pakistan to work for a better Japan-Pakistan relationship with their knowledge
and expertise, which they would have obtained in Japan.
Over 100
scholarship-holder students have successfully returned to Pakistan after
obtaining their PhD/Master degrees in Japan.
Islamic World Exhibition at IIU
Islamabad: International Islamic
University (IIU) women campus is holding annual 20th Islamic World Exhibition
from March 11. The opening ceremony of the exhibition would be held at IIUI
women campus. Mrs. Jain Yili, wife of Ambassador of People's Republic of China
would be the chief guest of the ceremony. According to a press release issued
here, an international dress exhibition will also be organized on March 12 at
women campus of the university. However, the prize distribution and the closing
ceremony of the two day Islamic World Exhibition will be held on March 13. The News
