KU Journal: SALU goes online
Karachi University gender studies journal
Karachi, March 08, 2008: A gender studies journal is being launched at the
University of Karachi (KU) March 8 in connection with the International Women's
Day.
The KU Director of the Centre of Excellence for Women Studies, Prof.
Dr Nasreen Aslam Shah, is the editor of the journal. The journal contains
articles that have been contributed by various research scholars. The articles
pertain to the gender issues and are aimed at fostering awareness on the
subject. "A strong advisory board has been formed for the journal which includes
five foreign faculty members," said Prof. Nasreen.
The journal aim to
highlight women's contributions in various fields. app

SALU dept goes online
Khairpur: Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU) Vice-Chancellor
Prof. Nilofer Shaikh on Thursday inaugurated the website of the department of
business administration.
According to a press release, the website
(www.dbasalu.co.nr) contains academic information, pictures and details of
students' co-curricular activities.
Prof Shaikh appreciated the efforts
made by teachers and students for successful launch of the website and praised
the department staff for developing and maintaining lawns.
The
vice-chancellor awarded gardeners cash prizes of Rs500 each and urged other
heads of departments to follow the example of the department of business
administration in bringing their departments at par with modern academic

Annual function of DHA School held
Karachi, March 08, 2008: The annual function and prize distribution ceremony of Defence
Authority Junior Model School Beach View was held at the school premises in Sea
View Township here on Friday.
Administrator DHA Brig. Kamran Aziz Qazi
was the chief guest. The young students presented a colourful and captivating
variety programme comprising of various skits, short plays and songs. The
performance of students was indeed impressive. The English play 'Zelda and
Zebra' conveyed the message of harmony, love and tolerance in a spectacular
manner. The Urdu play 'Pholon Ki Faryad' beautiful conveyed thought provoking
ideas pertaining to fundamental human values.
The administrator
appreciated teachers and students of the school for putting up a truly
remarkable and splendid show.
Earlier the Principal, Asma Siddique
presented the annual report of the school. She said that the school pursued a
skill based, meaningful and result oriented agenda to maintain highest standards
of excellence in its curricular and co-curricular programmes.
Later, Qazi
distributed prizes among the outstanding students. A large number of parents,
DHA officials and people from different walks of life attended the function. The News
