KU redesigns midterm examinations : SSUET results

KU redesigns midterm examinations
Karachi, Marach 01, 2008: The University of Karachi (KU) has redesigned the Midterm Examinations of BS-I and II of 2008.

This was notified by the Registrar of Karachi University on Friday.

Therefore, there will be two tests of 15 marks each- one in the month of march and the other in the third week of April this year.

The duration of each test/ examination as well as the make- up test will be of 50 minutes only.

The Midterm test will be arranged by the respective course incharge during the already scheduled classes.

Students may also appear in the make- up test of 15 marks on the day of Terminal Examination.

Out of the three tests (Midterm -I and II plus one Make- up) the marks of the two best will be considered for grading, it was further announced. App

Ex-students/failures
The University of Karachi, however, informed that the ex-students/failures of BA, BSc (Hons) first and second year would appear in the examination according to the old system.

These students would not be allowed to appear in the mid-term and make-up tests. PPI

SSUET announces final semester results of various disciplines
Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology has announced the final semester results of Electronic, Computer, Bio-Medical and Civil Engineering and Computer Science.

The results have been displayed at the University's notice board and can also be seen on its web site www.ssuet.edu.pk.

In Computer Engineering all three positions have been bagged by girls.

Following students have won positions in various technologies:

Electronic:
Umer Khayyam Roll No 377, Mohammed Zeshan (471), Kailash (351).

Computer Engineering:
Hazifa (203), Nazia Irfan (015), Shumaila Kausar (069).

Bio-Medical Engineering:
Faisal Azhar (099), Syed Mohammed Umair (054), Murtaza (080).

Civil Engineering:
Zoaim M. Zubair (005), Khurram Zeshan (034), Sarwat Iqbal (013).

Computer Science:
Nausheen Naqvi (014), Ali (017), Tabish Mateen (018). App

Governor to inaugurate new buildings at KU
Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan will inaugurate new buildings of two departments at the University of Karachi (KU) today (Saturday). He will also lay the foundation stone for the expansion of the administration block.

The department of Protein Research and Training Centre has been built on an area of 16,284 square feet at a cost of Rs41 million. Also, the Department of Food Sciences will now have a new building built on an area of 147,421sq.ft worth Rs33.41 million. Moreover, the new administration block will be a two-storey building built on an area of 36,795sq.ft. It will house the offices of Public Relations, Protocol, Registrar, Pro Vice Chancellor and Vice Chancellor's Secretariat. The News

SSUET beat KU in final
The Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET) won the Zone 'F' Inter-university Cricket Championship final against the Karachi University (KU) by four wickets at the PCB Academy Ground on Thursday despite a hat-trick by Adnan Akhtar.

The KU, batting first, were dismissed for 233 in 48.3 overs with Ali Jawad hitting 77. The SSUET, in reply, reached the target for the loss of six wickets, and with four balls to spare.

KU's Adnan Akhtar recorded a hat-trick by getting rid of Fakhar Rizvi, Bilal Malik and Ali Mehar on successive deliveries. Rehan Azam cracked 68 with five hits to the boundary and two over it while Adnan Ali Bajwa hammered 67 with nine fours for the winners.

Meanwhile, In a Zone 'H' match played at the TMC Ground, the NED University defeated the Textile Institute of Pakistan (TIP) by seven wickets, as Fasihullah (3-21) and Zargham Khan (64 runs) fared well for the winners.

At the KCCA Stadium, Mehran Engineering University (Jamshoro) overcame Greenwich University by seven wickets with Waqas blasting an unbeaten 52 and Abdus Samad finishing 39 not out for the victors.

SSUET beat KU by four wickets.

KARACHI UNIVERSITY 233 in 48.3 overs (Ali Jawad 77, Farhan Rafique 48; Musaib Bin Rauf 2-37, Danish Ahmed 2-39, Hammad 2-23); SSUET 234-6 in 49.2 overs (Rehan Aftab 68, Adnan Ali Bajwa 67, Ali Meher 21, Danish Ahmed 26 not out; Adnan Akhtar 3-41).

TIP 128 in 39.3 overs (Azhar Khalid 32, Aurangzeb 26, Kashan Qureshi 24; Fasihullah 3-21, Ahmedullah 2-1); NED 129-3 in 13 overs (Zargham Khan 64, Shoaib-ur-Rehman 23, Fazal Mohammad Khan 19; Babar Javed 2-22).

GREENWICH 166 in 42 overs (Emad 46, Agha Hasan 33, Humayun 22; Abdul Basit 3-43, Ashraf Baig 2-28); MEHRAN ENGINEERING 168-3 in 30.3 overs (Waqas 52 not out, Abdus Samad 39 not out). APP
