UHS MBBS result: PU, GCU, Hamdard news
UHS declares MBBS result
Lahore, March 05, 2008: The University of Health Sciences (UHS) has declared the result of 1st Professional
MBBS Part-I Supplementary Examination 2007. According to a press release issued
on Tuesday, 39 students from the Services Institute of Medical Sciences, Lahore
had appeared in the exam out of which 37 were declared successful while 58
students had appeared from the Lahore Medical and Dental College and 48 of them
were declared successful. Twenty-one students had appeared from the Wah Medical
College, Wah Cantt, and all of them were declared successful. Results of
students of other medical and dental colleges were also declared. The News
PU promotes 19 Assistant Professors
Lahore: Punjab University has promoted 19 Assistant Professors to BPS-20 keeping in view their
long services at the PU. On the instructions of Vice Chancellor Dr Mujahid
Kamran, the PU Registrar Office issued seperate notifications on
Tuesday.
The APs, who benefited under the
decision included those having masters degrees with 17-year service, foreign
masters degree with 15-year service and PhD degree with 13-year
service.

included Tahira Habib from History Department, Mohammad Zafarullah, Khalid Saeed
Butt, Rahat Naveed Masood, Syed Tanveer Rizvi and Safia Farooq from College of
Art and Design, Tahir Riaz Chaudhry from Social Work Department, Wasiq Mehmood
form Institute of Business Administration, Umaira Shah and Imran Ghani from
Library and Information Department, Arif Jamil from Institute of Chemical
Engineering, Tasneem Kausar from Geography Department, Mohammad Ahmad from
College of Statistical and Actuarial Sciences, Ashfaq Ahmad from Law College,
Khalid Mehmood and Syed Naeem from Hailey College of Commerce.
Ph.D. degree holders APs included
Dr Afira Hamid form Institute of Communication Studies and Dr Tariq Mehmood from
Chemistry Department.
Syed Waqar Ali from Institute of
Education and Research (IER) has an American degree of M.Ed. and has been
serving for last 15 years is also among the beneficiaries. App
PUASA condemns sacrilege
Lahore: The Punjab University Academic Staff Association (PUASA) strongly condemned
republication of sacrilegious caricatures in some Danish newspapers. According
to a press statement, general body meeting of the PUASA was held on Tuesday in
which the PU teachers condemned the republication of blasphemous caricatures and
demanded the government to sever diplomatic ties with countries where newspapers
published such sacrilegious caricatures. The News
MoU between Hamdard, univ of Bradford
Lahore: Hamdard University, the leading Private Sector University in the country
is entering into an Academic collaboration with the University of Bradford, UK.
In this regard, MoU signing ceremony has been scheduled on March 02, 2008. the
purpose of the MoU is to foster international relationship through academic and
research. Not only the Hamdard University but also the Higher Education sector
of Pakistan as a whole will become affordable for the students belonging to
middle class. It is an excellent feat being achieved by Hamdard University that

Rs 3m donation to GCU Library
Lahore: Chairperson of the English Department of Government College
University (GCU) Prof Dr Nosheen Khan has donated Rs three million to the GCU
Library.
The library will set up a special Amtul-Arifa corner in the
library. Amtul Hayee and Arifa Khan were the daughters of Prof M A Khan, former
Principal Government College Lahore. The library will purchase books on the
topics in the disciplines of History, Political Sciences, Psychology and English
Literature.
It is worth mentioning here that Amtul Hayee was the alumni
of the History Department of GCU in 1945-1947. Vice Chancellor GCU Prof Dr
Khalid Aftab has highly appreciated the donation extended by Dr Nosheen Khan and
hoped that the Old Ravians would continue their support to their alma mater for
the academic uplift of the institution. The News
