FBISE to open sub-offices, schools in UAE
ISLAMABAD, March 15(Daily Times): The Federal Board of
Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) has prepared a plan to open its
sub-offices and model schools and colleges in all the provincial capitals and
the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to facilitate Pakistani students.
FBISE
Chairman Air Commodore (r) Sharif Shamshad said this on Wednesday.
Initially, the NWFP Assembly has passed a
resolution for allotment of two acres to the board to set up a sub-office in the
province, he said, adding that the governments of Sindh, Balochistan and the
Punjab had also assured the board land for this purpose.
He said a
similar feasibility report had also been sent to the UAE Government for
establishment of a model school/college and a sub-office in Dubai not only to
facilitate Pakistani students but also staff working there.
"The board
had to dispatch examination material, including question papers and mark sheets,
to UAE through a courier service which was a huge financial burden for the
board. However, our fresh initiative will help curtail the extra expenditures to
some extent," he added.
Shamshad said that the federal board had also
established its model colleges/schools and offices for Pakistani students in
Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Iran, India, Yemen, Egypt, Syria, China and
Turkey. Nearly 800 model schools/colleges are affiliated with the federal board
both at home and abroad, he added.
He said the federal board had decided
to enhance the cash prizes for best students and teachers every year. The 25
best teachers will get a cash prize of Rs 50,000, while the best students will
receive a cash award of Rs 40,000, he said.
